No Fear In Love

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear” 1 John 4 v 18

It would be hard to ignore the increase in fear and panic that has entered this world in recent years. Many of these fears can be attributed to terror attacks throughout the world, global natural disasters and financial instability but these are just a few of the concerns that we face in this modern world. Fear and anxiety is debilitating. It stops us in our tracks, prevents us from living our normal lives and it grabs hold of our breath. But how can we overcome it?

Well recently we have witnessed celebrities taking to the stage and news to encourage us not to hate but to love. Many have even gone so far to say that there is No Fear in love. Is this statement true? I believe so as 1 John 4 v18 it says, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear” God’s perfect love casts out all our fears. When you know God, there is nothing that can keep you from his love and in his love there is no fear, only peace.

So how do we receive and experience more of his love so that we can overcome our fears? Well it’s very simple, just like any relationship we need to spend time with him. One way we can do this is through prayer. You may know that one of the first responses of the world after the awful terror attacks in Manchester and London was to pray. Everyone took to social media with messages encouraging prayer. However we don’t need to wait until something tragic happens to begin to talk to God. You can talk to him at anytime and anywhere. He is waiting to hear from you, so just tell him exactly how you feel and what it is that is causing you to fear. Don’t allow the enemy to keep you hidden in the dark. Jesus is the light of the world and the enemy was defeated when he died on the cross. Love conquers all.

The darkness hovers over this land

And wants to capture our hearts

The darkness offers no peace or rest

And aims to keep god and man apart

But you have walked this way

And you have tasted fear and death

You withstood the pain and torture

To your very last breath

And now you are glorious

Enthroned in skies above

You took our fears and sorrows

All because of love

Your love covered the darkness

Your light shone so bright

It saved me from fears clutches

And gave me back my sight
