W2W 12 Days of Christmas Day 6

On the 6th Day of Christmas my First Love gave to me:

An open door and a safe place to rest

It’s our church nativity today, I can’t wait! I love the part when the little child who plays the Inn Keeper proclaims in a big loud voice that there is “no room at the inn”. This is the moment in the Christmas story when Mary and Joseph are met with closed doors.

What about you, have you ever felt like that? Left outside, turned away, not wanted, not welcomed. Perhaps you know what it’s like to have a door shut in your face, rejected. What do you do now?

Well, Mary and Joseph may have had doors shut in their face but this couple were held in the palm of God’s hand and nothing was going to prevent his will. They were in Bethlehem for a reason. Joseph, as prophesised a descendant of David, would have to be there to register for the census. And this baby would be born wrapped in swaddling cloth, again just as God said he would. God provided a shelter, a safe place for them to rest - a stable

Are you in need of a place to rest, perhaps a place to rest your wearied mind? You know God Is waiting for you and You don’t need to go looking or knocking at the door. Rev 3v20 says that God’s already standing at the door. He says here I am I stand knocking and if you open the door I will come in. You don’t need to search anymore as God’s already at the door of your heart. All you have to do is open that door and invite him in. He is your safe place, he is your stable. He will never leave you out in the cold.

So On the 6th day of Christmas my First Love gave to me an open door and a place of rest and peace
